Preventative Maintenance (Fleet)
The purpose of performing preventive maintenance (PM) is to prevent plant, vehicle and equipment failures by conducting proper and timely lubrication and inspections.
The inspections should identify defects that can be corrected while they are still small problems and before they develop into major equipment or component failures, which are more costly, time-consuming and seriously affect the availability of Councils plant, vehicle and equipment fleet.
The ultimate goal of the PM Service is for the plant, vehicle or equipment to remain in full operation and not present at fleet workshops with defects between PM Services.
